My baby is 7 weeks old, I’m not sure if he has a reaction to the formula (I am bf and supplementing) or if maybe he’s irritated by his sheets or if this is newborn acne. It’s on his face and upper chest, not on stomach, legs, back or arms.

Better take him to the pediatrician. It sounds like an allergic reaction.
My baby had all these tiny red bumps and whiteheads all over her adorable face and head when she was an infant. Naturally, like with myself, I wanted to squeeze them, but of course I just left them alone. I think it is just the change in environment and your baby’s skin will be clear in no time. If you are really worried, you should contact your Ped. Also, you should use Dreft or a baby laundry detergent if you think the irritation may be from the baby’s bedding.
Allergies can begin at any age, even 7 weeks old, so please let your pediatrician make this diagnosis. Sometimes it is difficult for us laymen to tell the difference, and in case of an allergy, you will want to know immediately. Untreated, allergies can get worse, especially a reaction to formula. Please call your pediatrician right away.
First of all, Congratulations on the birth of your newborn!
From what I have heard, newborn acne comes on during the first few weeks and clears up by 12 weeks. It usually is only on the face and possibly the back. Since it is on the chest, I’m thinking you may have a heat rash?
Either way, if it is a rash, allergic reaction, or just newborn acne, I suggest calling your doctor, they may give suggestions on how to treat it over the phone, or have you come in.
When it comes to the formula, don’t just change the formula on your own with out discussing it with the doctor. When it comes to the formula you use, it’s important to keep consistant.
